Privacy Policy — FTV Player

This Privacy Policy explains how FTV Player ("the app", "we") handles information when you use it. By using the app you agree to this policy.

1. Video and media files

FTV Player is a local video player. With your permission (READ_MEDIA_VIDEO on Android 13+, or READ_EXTERNAL_STORAGE on older versions) the app reads video files stored on your device to list and play them. Your videos never leave your device — they are not uploaded, copied, or shared to us or any third party. Rename, delete and screenshot actions happen locally through the Android MediaStore.

2. Streaming URLs

If you use the "Play Online" feature and enter a media URL, the app connects directly to the server you specify to stream that content. We do not store or transmit those URLs to our own servers.

3. Information collected through third-party services

The app uses Google Firebase to understand usage, improve stability, and run an in-app review prompt. These services may collect limited technical and usage data:

• Firebase Analytics — anonymous usage events, device model, OS version, app version, and an advertising identifier (this is why the app declares the AD_ID permission). Used only for analytics, not for serving ads.
• Firebase Crashlytics — crash reports and diagnostic data (stack traces, device state at crash time) to help us fix bugs.
• Firebase Cloud Firestore — anonymous in-app interaction/review data used to decide when to show the rating prompt. No personal identity is attached.
• Firebase Cloud Messaging — a device push token, used to deliver optional notifications.
• Firebase Remote Config — feature-flag values downloaded to the app.

This data is processed by Google in accordance with the Google Privacy Policy.

4. Information we do NOT collect

• We do not collect your name, email, phone number, or account credentials.
• We do not upload, scan the content of, or share your personal video files.
• The app has no login or user account.

5. Permissions summary

• READ_MEDIA_VIDEO / READ_EXTERNAL_STORAGE — list and play your videos.
• INTERNET, ACCESS_NETWORK_STATE, ACCESS_WIFI_STATE — online streaming and Firebase services.
• FOREGROUND_SERVICE / FOREGROUND_SERVICE_MEDIA_PLAYBACK — background audio playback.
• WAKE_LOCK — keep playback running.
• AD_ID — advertising identifier used by Firebase Analytics.

6. Children

FTV Player is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect personal information from them.

7. Data retention & your choices

Analytics and crash data are retained per Google Firebase defaults. You can limit analytics by disabling the advertising ID in your device settings, or stop all collection by uninstalling the app.

8. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with a new "Last updated" date.
